Intercession Episcopal Church

To seek and serve Christ in all people.

WORSHIP

We are a Prayer Book people. The most obvious characteristic of Anglican churches around the world is the Book of Common Prayer allowing Episcopalians to feel at home in any Anglican church worldwide. We celebrate baptisms, weddings, funerals and memorial services, as well as special holy days and seasons. We try to make worship at Intercession a dynamic and relevant experience for all who attend. Through preaching, music, prayers and the Eucharist our goal is to experience the love and presence of God in our lives.

Acolytes assist the clergy in the worship service in a number of ways. They light the altar candles prior to the service, lead the procession of choir, Chalice Bearers and Clergy, and participate in the Gospel procession. Acolytes also help prepare the altar for the celebration of the Eucharist.

Chalice Bearers offer the chalice to the congregation with the word, "The blood of Christ, the cup of salvation".  This symbolism reflects the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples just before he offered himself up for the crucifixion.

Altar Guild prepares for the Eucharist celebration weekly and for memorial services and weddings. They care for the vestments, altar linens, brass, silver and candles. They work together in quiet commitment to serve the parish and the community. The Altar Guild is always delighted to welcome new members - women or men - experienced or beginner!

Flowers & Decorations are provided through donations from members of the congregation to the glory of God. Fresh Cut Arrangements are made and distributed throughout our sanctary for each weekly Sunday celebration.

Greeters & Ushers greet worshippers, provide them with service bulletins and help them find a seat if needed. They direct newcomers and visitors to church school and childcare. They also collect the monetary offering and present it with the bread and wine as an offering of our life and labor. Ushers pay attention to the needs of the congregation and facilitate the meeting of those needs for hospitality and welcome.

Lectors & Readers read the Old Testament lesson, Psalm, and New Testament Lessons and lead the Prayers of the People during Liturgy of the Word in communion services. They also may lead Morning Prayer or Evening Prayer in the absence of the Priest
